WordPress 3.1 (Code name “Reinhardt”) has been released at WordPress official blog. This release has some awesome features like internal linking and admin bar. Just read below to overview of some major features of this release.
Interlinking is very much helpful for better WordPress SEO. Whenever we want to interlink any old post and pages we need to follow some painful steps like we need to open a link in new tab and copy and paste the relevant link to the post or use some plugins or hacks for interlinking old posts and pages. Now in the new WordPress 3.1 release, interlinking has been very easy the core team of WordPress have provided the built in functionality so that we can interlink our old posts and pages. We can’t use this feature in html editor. To use this feature we have to use visual editor and try to make a hyperlink. Below is a screenshot of this awesome feature.
If you visit WordPress.com as a logged in user you will notice a bar at the top which has many useful shortcuts of most important areas at the backend. Now with a self hosted blog you can also use this feature with same functionality.
However if you don’t like the new admin bar you can disable it by going into your user profile.
Blue color theme for dashboard
Initially there was only grey color scheme for our dashboard. Now with new WordPress 3.1 release have an additional blue color for our dashboard. I personally wanted to get rid of the default grey color for my WordPress dashboard so i love this awesome feature from WordPress theme below is a screenshot new blue theme of admin area.
Streamlined Writing Interface
New user will find less cluttered screen than before. In WordPress 3.1 more of the options are hidden by default but you can enable it by clicking on screen option.
